Common name:Quadricolor Century Plant
Botanical name:Agave lophantha 'Quadricolor'
This Texas native is found on gravelly limestone and rocky areas. Leaves are an open rosette form, fairly flat and sword-shaped, green in color with spines along the margins. This plant reaches 2' tall and 3' wide. Occasionally, this plant sends up a tall spike 12' tall with greenish yellow flowers. This marks the death of the plant but there are usually offspring close by. Plant in full to part sun with well draining soil. It is drought tolerant once it's established.
Common name:Marguerite Daisy
Botanical name:Argyranthemum frutescens 'Butterfly'
This short-lived, fast growing rounding shrub grows 2'-3' tall and wide, smoothered with daisy-like flowers of yellow rays and yellow centers that bloom from spring through fall. In many areas, it is grown as an annual. Prolong bloom period by deadheading. This shrub does best in full sun with regular watering and more during hot days. It prefers well draining, fertile soil. Foliage is dark green with pointed leaves.
Common name:Finger Aloe
Botanical name:Cotyledon orbiculata var. oblonga
This striking succulent spreads slowly to form a dense carpet of silvery-gray finger-like foliage. The upright sturdy flower stems rise boldly 15-18" above the foliage. Clusters of bell-shaped salmon flowers dangle from the tip of the stem like an outrageously over-the-top candelabra! The plant branches from ground level, forming large clumps. The leaves are silvery-white to pale grey-green. With its spiky shaped leaves and silver-green color, this cotyledon lends its texture, shape and color to many garden situations.
